Home = Education Conference Photo Album Page 2

Dateline: 8/28/99

By Ann Zeise

For two hours, during the lunch break at the Home=Education Conference in Sacramento on Saturday, August 21, 1999, about 30 self-described "online buddies" and "web wonks" got to meet each other f2f (face-to-face) irl (in real life). Lisa Bugg and Sue Patterson announced the formation of the new National Home Education Network and explained the various committees. We all introduced ourselves, talked about our kids a bit, and what were our favorite email lists, chats, message board forums and websites. Afterwards we broke out into smaller groups of old friends and new. I took photos at this time. Funny of the day: someone complained that there just wasn't enough hours in the day to get all her email read. Another piped up: "Are you still trying to do housework?"

Saturday Online Buddies' Lunch & NHEN Announcement

Michael Arighi & Lisa Bugg

Michael, an HSC member and homeschool father, asks Lisa Bugg how he might help with the new National Home Education Network. I had shanghied Michael in from an earlier session after recognizing him as a fellow UC Santa Cruz alumni.

Danetta M., Aileen Aidnik, and Pam Sorooshian

Three old-time AOL buddies have a lively conversation when they met:

Here's DAB7580, DcnAileen and PSoroosh

Online Buddies

Buddies broke out in smiles and hand gestures when they finally met in real life. I need some help identifying these folks. That's PSoroosh with the long blond hair on the left, and I believe that's DAB on the right Sheila (Hsmick) and Liz Davis are chatting in the upper left.
