Blackbeard: Pirate Terror at Sea
Blackbeard and his crew of pirates terrorized sailors on the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea from 1716 through 1718. They ambushed ships carrying passengers and cargo in the dim light of dawn and dusk when the pirates' ship was hard to see.

William Bainbridge: America's Unlucky Sea Captain
Bainbridge was appointed to command the Essex in 1801 as part of a squadron under Commodore Richard Dale, to cruise against the North African Barbary powers. The United States, under Thomas Jefferson, had decided war was better alternative than tribute. In modern times, a Naval vessel was named after him, and involved with rescuing an American ship captain from Somali pirates.
