Fingerprinting Not Required
California
Homeschool Network (CHN) has been notified that several homeschool
families in Contra Costa County have been asked to submit fingerprints
when filing the R-4 Private School Affidavit.
We would like to inform all California homeschoolers as well
as those in Contra Costa County, that they are not required to
be fingerprinted. According to California Educational Code 44237,
section 4, this requirement does not apply to a "parent
or legal guardian working exclusively with his or her children."
Homeschoolers who are confronted with this request have the
option to file their R-4 directly with the state.
