Early Assessment College Placement Testing in West Virginia

Please help me convey this information to home schooling associations in the state of West Virginia.

My name is Nancy Parks, and I work at Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia, in a program called Early Assessment.

Early Assessment provides college placement testing for prospective state college and university students in West Virginia. Traditionally, the program has been made available to students in public and private high schools in our service region; however, I realize that an increasing number of our college freshmen have been home-schooled, and I would welcome the opportunity to provide college placement testing for this group.

If any West Virginia home schooling groups in our service region (which consists of Barbour, Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, and Taylor counties) would like to have their senior high school age students tested for eligibility for enrollment in any introductory math or English course at Fairmont State College--or any other state school in WV--please contact me to set up an appointment.

The tests are called "COMPASS" and they are computerized, untimed, and free. Results are shared only with the student and his family, and the student will receive a written copy of his scores and placement. Any satisfactory scores will be reserved for students' use should they decide to attend college, but if the scores are unsatisfactory, the student may re-test at registration. It's really that simple.

Please share this information with your home-school families. I look forward to being contacted soon.

Thank you,

Nancy Parks
