A support and lobby group for anyone already home educating or
interested in it. The site provides an overview of the legal
situation in Ireland, with information on the Registration and
Assessment system. HEN helps to put home educators together and
produces a quarterly newsletter and holds an annual conference
with guest speakers and children's activities.

Legalities
Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, Section 14
The Board shall, on the commencement of this section, cause to be established and maintained a register of all children in receipt of education in a place other than a recognised school (hereafter in this section referred to as "the register").
Legal Guidelines
Article 42 of the Constitution sets out the relationships between
the family, parents, children and the State with respect to education.

Registration of Home educators. Any law that would compel people
to apply for approval by a Government body for inclusion in a
register to allow them to do something that they have a specifically
delineated Constitutional right to do, is, per se, unconstitutional.
