Switzerland is a confederation of states or cantons (CH = Confederation Helvetica). In a TV broadcast (2005), the President of the Zurich department of education said there are 140 home schooled children in their canton. All of the 26 cantons take data privacy seriously and therefore do not give out exact enrollment numbers when asked. There are mostly informal counts or guesses. Numbers are not our main focus anyway.
Home education is still legal in many cantons. Some cantons like Ticino do not allow it. For more information or contact with home educators in Switzerland, go to the website of the Swiss Home School Association
